My Water Works
Actually- that isn't technically true.. my water certainly DOES NOT work right now ...the last time i metioned this I was hoping to get a visit from a qualified plumber who'd have everything fixed in a jiffy and i wouldn't have to see the landlord for at least another twelve months ... sadly, i've seen my landlord more times this past 2 days than i have the past 2 years! ...firstly, after leaving us without hot water overnight, he turned up next mroning with said plumber, who turns out to be 'a mate who knows a bit about water' ...so they fiddle and ummm and ahhh a lot and realise that the initial attempt to fix the problem has resulted in some component being left in the tap hole* ...so, component removed and we're back to square one with my tap at least working (albeit with a scourer and a tight grip to turn the bolt that's sticking up out of the drainer...*sighs) -oh well, at least we all managed to get a bath that night and the washing machine went on straight away (isn't it amazing how big a laundry pile can get when you don't wash for one day...eeek!!) ..so- landlord and *ahem... plumber decided that actually, all i really need is a new tap cover* and the 'plumber' is sure that he has one thats the right size in a bag at home... see, at this point you gotta think that somethings not quite right.. so, they leave saying they'll be back shortly (with a mumble of 'possibly tomorrow' under their breathes) and that brings us to today... Landlord turns up on his own with a wrench in his hand and a tap cover* in his pocket *L -there's a gag in there somewhere, huh ;) *giggles ..i leave him to it, whilst keeping my ears pricked for any untoward noises just incase he has another masterplan- i've realised after 13 years that thats just the best way to go about this stuff... he's up and down the stairs turning the water on and off at the mains and tweaking stuff inbetween til finally he asks me to try the tap- all seems good to me.. a little bit of drippage but its hardly worth a mention... only he decides that he'll just have one more go and turns the water back off again.. i can hear a few expletives and for such a quiet man i just know that somethings gone terribly wrong =(
THE OUTCOME: At the moment i have two completely different tap heads* and both tap heads* show blue/cold! ..the initial broken tap is now not connected to the rest of the tap but is just precariously balanced but thats okay- i just have to prop it up if it falls off... crumbs! ..turning the tap no longer turns the inner workings of the tap but actually removes the top half of the tap from the base allowing a nice full flow of water direct from the base of the tap *LMAO ..this would be funny if it wasn't happening to me *sighs Landlord's considering getting his 'mate who is a plumber' over when he gets back from his holidays altho thinks that two weeks might be too long to wait so might get someone else to come have a look early next week ...personally, i'm just glad that, for today, he's gone home!
* - possibly none plumbing terms for actual plumbing 'things'

i think after 13 years you should ask your landlord for a new fitted kitchen when he next comes round tell him it will add value to the property and if he dosent just mention health and safty and he will find some way of evicting you in the next two weeks lol
